My experience as a member of a college fraternity

In October 1958, the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity expelled its Hamilton College chapter in Clinton, New York, for insisting on a non-discrimination policy for admitting members. The national fraternity insisted that its members be Christians who were either White or Native American. The expelled chapter reorganized itself as an independent society called the Gryphon Society, which continued to operate for more than two decades.
